A Canadian Coton de Tulear Breeder

Clover

The Coton De Tulear is a small, longhaired, companion dog with a white, or predominately white, cotton textured coat. The dog is longer than it is high and has round dark eyes and a lively intelligent expression. Males are about 27 cm (10.5") tall and weigh about 6 kg (13 lbs) and the females are slightly smaller. The Coton De Tulear originated on the island of Madagascar (located near the bottom of Africa) and share common ancestry with the Maltese, Bichon Frise and Havanese.

I have chosen to breed the Coton De Tulear because I feel that the combination of temperament, character and structure of the breed make it an excellent choice as an all round canine companion - easy enough for the novice dog owner and zesty enough for the seasoned dog owner.

The goal of this web site is to provide information on the process of choosing a breed and a breeder, and to describe the essence of the Coton De Tulear. A more extensive background on the history of the Coton De Tulear and the full FCI breed standards is available on the website www.coton.ca.
